I saw The A to Z Book Tag created by the legendary Jamie @ The Perpetual Page Turner and immediately said, “Oh, this is my Roman Empire.” Because nothing screams “reader with questionable impulse control” like turning the alphabet into a personality quiz for your bookshelf.
Let’s get to it!
Author You’ve Read the Most Books From –
Probably Ann M. Martin (and her team of caffeine-fueled ghostwriters working out of a Scholastic dungeon somewhere). I devoured The Babysitters’ Club like it was scripture. We’re talking the OG series, the Mysteries, the Super Specials, and the Super Mysteries. Overall, that’s 186 books. That series practically raised me. No one was doing it like Kristy, Mary Anne, Claudia, Stacey, Dawn, Mallory, and Jessi.
Best Sequel Ever –
Before The Devil Breaks You by Libba Bray. Book 3 in The Diviners series, aka the novel that emotionally steamrolled me and then asked if I was okay (I was not). The book did, in fact, break me. 10/10, would get wrecked again.

Currently Reading –
Legendborn by Tracy Deonn. Finally.

Drink of Choice –
Iced coffee or wine…the sweeter, the better.
E-Reader or Physical Book?
I’m probably in the 3% of readers who actually prefers my Kindle. *hides from tomatoes being thrown* I know, I know, but I like the fact that I can carry 200 books around wherever I want. I do still love buying physical books though.
Fictional Character You Would’ve Date in High School
Peeta Mellark. Under all of the trauma of The Hunger Games, he’s sweet, cute, and can bake. Also, come on, he’s Josh Hutcherson. The moment that really stayed with me is when he stayed by Katniss’s side when she was hearing her sister’s voice being tortured via the mockingjays. That was true love right there.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance –
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace. I told myself I was definitely not going to get into sports romances but thanks to a friend recommending it to me, now I’m hooked on this author’s books.
Hidden Gem –
The Love Songs of W.E.B DuBois by Honore Fanonne Jeffers. This book was a hard one to get through not because of its length (although it is a whopping 816 pages long) but because of its harsh subject matter. I loved this book though as it’s both a multi-generational saga and the story of a young Black woman finding herself and her identity in the messiest ways possible. Needless to say, I related a bit to the main character, Ailey.

Important Moment in Your Reading Life –
When I got my first library card when I was four in 1994. I then checked out like twenty books and was happily content. I also lost it in about five seconds. Don’t ask me what number library card I’m on now just because of losing them…
Just Finished –
I finished Icebreaker back in mid-October but now I’m in a bit of a reading slump so technically nothing?
Kind of Book You Won’t Read –
I’m open to a lot of genres, but I guess one type of book I won’t read are any books about the environment or nature. Not because I don’t think the environment is important, but to be honest, those types of books would probably make me fall asleep.
Longest Book You’ve Read –

The Memoirs of Cleopatra by Margaret George at 1,139 pages. This book took me a full two months to read. It was dense but I feel like I was so immersed in Ancient Egypt and the love stories between Cleopatra and Julius Caesar and then Marc Antony. Actually, I’d love to reread this one but I have no idea when I’m going to feel like reading a thousand pages again.
Major Book Hangover Because of…
The Light We Lost by Jill Santopolo. I started reading this in the beginning of October but I found myself bawling through most of the book. I didn’t even finish it because it struck such a nerve. The “right person, wrong time” trope hurts in the worst way. I didn’t read a book for weeks after I put it down. I’ll eventually return to it when I’m not dealing with whatever I was going through when I picked it up.

Number of Bookshelves You Own –
Just three. I wish I had more. More bookshelves so I can finally live the dream of living in a small library. Maybe one day.
One Book You’ve Read Multiple Times –
Indigo by Beverly Jenkins. It’s the first romance/historical romance book I ever read back in high school. The love story between Hester and Galen? Swoon…If I could go back in time and read it again for the first time, I’d do so in a heartbeat. I read it at least once a year.

Preferred Place to Read –
I can read literally anywhere. If I had to pick a place, it’d be my bed right before I settle in for the night or if I’m annotating a book, at my desk with some cozy music playing.
Quote That Inspires You –
“Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave, I am the dream and the hope of the slave.” – Maya Angelou
Reading Regrets –
Buying every book in a series before even reading book one. Looking at you, Vampire Academy. It’s a 6 book series and I only read the first two…back in 2010.
Series You’ve Started and Need to Finish –
This is another blog post for another day. I have WAY too many series to finish!
Three of Your All-Time Favorite Books –

Unapologetic Fangirl For…
Historical fiction and fantasy books!
Very Excited About This Release –

I’m waiting very impatiently for April 2026!!! Come faster!
Worst Bookish Habit –
I sometimes put off finishing series because for some reason even in my bookish life I run from closure.
X-Marks The Spot. Pick the 27th Book From Your Top Shelf –
Cleopatra’s Daughter by Michelle Moran. I remember buying this in the airport in Tampa, Florida because I needed a quick read for the flight back home. I finished the whole book in the 2 and a half-ish hour flight.
Your Last Purchase –
Does my new reading planner count? It’s bookish, gorgeous, and I can’t wait to use it!
Z Snatcher: A Book Kept You Up Way Too Late –

The Appeal by Janice Hallett. I went in expecting a charming little cozy mystery about a British theater group…and instead got a full-blown experience of “wait-what? when? WHO?! WTF?!” Every time I thought I had the mystery figured out, Hallet pulled another plot twist. Next thing I knew, it was 5 a.m. And I work at an elementary school so you can imagine how my day went.
And that’s it – the A to Z Book Tag, aka a chaotic love letter to my reading habits, emotional stability, and questionable literary opinions. If you’ve made it this far, congratulations!
Honestly though, this tag reminded why i love being a reader – it’s messy, dramatic, hilarious, and full of feelings I can’t explain to normal people. Books make us who we are. My fellow readers, y’all know what I mean.
So cheer’s to stories! If you haven’t done this tag yet, then you’re it!
Until next time,
I’ll be somewhere between “currently reading,” “emotionally recovering,” and “adding another 12 books to my TBR despite everything I just said.”
